THEY'RE GOING TO KILL DAMIAN WAYNE. I AM VERY FUCKING UPSET. ;________________;

I just. I would be equally upset if they killed any of the other members of the Batfamily, but let me tell you about my special relationship with Damian Motherfucking Wayne.

I have a long relationship with Batman, but until a few years ago that relationship was based almost entirely on the DC Animated Universe. My knowledge of comics canon was vague and outdated; I was somewhat aware of comics-specific characters such as Jason, Cass, and Tim (I'm making a distinction here between comics! and animated!Tim, they're very different), but only in the vaguest sense. I had barely ever in my life cracked a Batman comic.

Damian Wayne is literally half the reason I started reading Batman comics and participating in online Batfandom.

The whole story is convoluted and incredibly nerdy, but what it comes down to is I was role-play test-driving my take on Robin (from the Teen Titans animated series) on

dear_mun, and among many other awesome characters (this is also how I discovered Deadpool) I met a Batman!Dick Grayson, and I met a Damian Wayne. This is shortly after Battle for the Cowl; Dick and Damo were our new dynamic duo. I was intrigued by what I learned about the current storyline–Bruce is dead? Dick is Batman? Holy shit!–and I fell instantly, deeply, madly in love with Damian Wayne. WHO IS THIS TINY, AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL DOUCHEBAG? I wanted to know. THIS TINY TWATWAFFLE, I LOVE HIM, I MUST KNOW MOOOOOOORE!

And the rest is history.

...So I am deeply, deeply NOT OKAY THAT DC IS KILLING HIM. NOT OKAY, DC. NOT OKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

So I'll just be here, sobbing my heart out until further notice, 'kay? i_i

I am so, so glad you've made this post, so I can commiserate somewhere without vague-tweeting or spoiling the other half of Tumblr. I'm so, so sorry I was the one who made you find out, though, it probably would've been terrible no matter how you learned about it.

Can I word-vomit in here? Okay. Because it's kind of crazy that Damian was the reason you got into Batman comics, because he was my reason, too! Even though I came from a completely different corner! My story goes, I used to read a lot of Batman comics as a little girl, but I was never in the fandom, obviously, and I grew out of it. After that, I was only aware of Batman as a pop-culture franchise I had some nostalgic feelings for. Then one day, my friend

morweneledhwen started posting about Batman and the new Dick!Bats/Robin!Damian dynamic duo, and told me that "oh yeah, Bruce Wayne has a son now, and he's this snotty, aristocratic little assassin and he's amazing, and he's Robin", and that intrigued me. I checked out the comics again and I instantly loved Damian. So then I got hooked, I got caught up, started writing, re-discovered my dormant love for Bruce/Dick, met other amazing fans - and it was all because of the little brat. So, yeah, this really fucking blows.

I mean, I'm still holding out to see what happens. Perhaps it'll be touching and amazing. Perhaps it'll be ambiguous. Perhaps it won't be permanent. Who knows. I'm curious about it. But right now, I'm gutted.

Like, Grant Morrison created this character, so of course he can do whatever he wants with him. But the ... the idea that Damian will never grow up, that he'll die just has he's made all these important and interesting connections in his life, and has grown so much as a person, it's ... I guess I don't have to tell you. I'm usually not even very sensitive toward character deaths, but I actualfax welled up when I read this.

No, it's fine, I'm... in this place right now where I haven't been keeping up with the comics, so I don't mind about spoilers at all, because I'm not really following the current storylines very closely. I'd rather find out now than much, much later, which is a distinct possibility, I am SO out of touch with comics news. AND I'M GLAD IT WAS YOU, BB, AT LEAST YOU UNDERSTAND. TT_TT

Isn't he the character Grant Morrison created? I'm pretty sure he doesn't trust any other writer out there not to screw with his character now that his contract is up. I'm so sorry he is your favorite and it is quite understandable that you are upset and attached.

According to hubby D.C is such a mess right now, I can see why Grant would do this, but it is a shame for the fans that have invested time and love. I heard Damian is a very cool character. I'm so sorry.

Hahahaha he's not even really my favorite, except in the sense that THEY'RE ALL MY FAVORITE. I mean I guess I have to say, of the Robins, I love Dick and Tim more, but JUST BARELY, I just, I really can't chose between Batfamily, I LOVE THEM ALL. But Damian is very special to me, yes, I love him lots, BABY DON'T GOOOOOO!! TT_________TT
