Shenanigans

So while I was in Honolulu they moved me to a new desk. I will miss our group! T_T But Mimi's still there, and the other people near me are cool. The guy sitting next to me is an outgoing redhead dude named Lucas, who's totally awesome, even if he is leaving me already for a new job. We spent like all day Friday chatting about Miyazaki movies, anime, Star Trek, and science fiction franchises. Also he got the WEIRDEST CALL EVER. Weird as in it seemed totally normal until the weird part, which came out of the blue. He got a call on the PGE Refund line, some lady from Portland, he filed a claim for her over the phone, blah blah, he read her her confirmation code, spelling out each letter like we're required to, "Y as in Yellow, I as in Igloo, P as in Paul"... and then she spells it back, okay, to double check, and she's like, "D as in Deathcamp...." ...WTF?! It totally threw him off for the rest of the call, and we've been laughing about it ever since. Like, seriously, wtf?! WHO SAYS THAT?! WHY WOULD YOU THINK OF SUCH A THING?!

This weekend was super lazy. I spent all day Saturday marathoning Battlestar Galactica, and then I went to Crystal's Chocolate Party. We ate brownie bites and fudge and triple chocolate fudge cake, and dipped angel food cake bites and strawberries in a chocolate fountain, and we watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and gossiped about ex-boyfriends. It was fantastic. Oh, and she cut my hair, thank Zolac.

It was the fracking weirdest day at work today. (Yes, I said fracking; see above.) I get there and my computer won't turn on. The thing is freaking BROKEN. So I sit there for a long time while Doug rushes around fixing everyone else's tech problems, and I help Mimi out with some of hers, and then Doug moves me to the desk of some lady named Sam, who's gone for the week, and I try to do my NavTime, but I can't, because I don't have Sharepoint. So I chase down Doug (easier said than done) and he prints my stats out, and I do my NavTime, and I prepare to go to work. ...But I can't because my email is broken, and my Claims Matrix is broken, and I don't have the Chrysler Bankruptcy Call Log. So Doug gives me a new copy of Claims Matix, and tries for about ten years to fix my email before finally giving up and telling me to get on the phones. So I move all my stuff over from my desk and set it up and dig up a new headset (someone has stolen mine while all this is going on), and I finally go Available for calls (an hour and a half after I got to work, now), and I get my first call... and my headset is BROKEN and the lady can't hear a damn thing I'm saying. So I have to hunt up another one before I can actually get to work. So then things are ok, except for Interaction Client crashing THREE TIMES during the morning (and by morning, I mean, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.). And then just before 2, Ami comes through and tells us that anything not work-related needs to come off our desks right now, and I'm like, whatever, Big Wigs must be coming through (they did warn us on Friday not to wear jeans today), and I toss my book in a drawer. Like 30 seconds go by, and THE FUCKING FIRE ALARM GOES OFF. So the entire freaking building files out into the parking lot and stands around in the sun, and fire truck comes and goes, and then we all file back in, and I go to lunch. So, you know, all of that was weird, and I got very little actual work done, but I didn't stress about it. I mean, it's not my kuleana... so long as I get paid, right? It's all good. And Doug fixed my email while I was on lunch, so whatev.

And also... meme!

1. Put your music player (iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc etc etc) on shuffle.
2. For the first twenty-five songs that come up- and no cheating!- post the first line of the song.
3. If the title of the song comes up in the line, you have two options: you may replace the title with (song title here) or, if that would make it too obvious, you may skip the song. This is the only time you should skip a song! Skipping embarassing 90s pop songs takes the fun out of it, guys.
4. Let your friends guess the songs.

1. You're always ahead of the game, I drag behind
2. Once when I was thirty-one, I woke in the dead of night
3. Set me aflame and cast me free, away, you wretched world of tethers
4. So far so good, you're coming to the bend at the end of the road
5. Even on a day like this when you're crawling on the floor
6. [title of song], it's so good for you, [title of song], beneath the sky of blue
7. Mm ba ba de, um bum ba de, um bu bu bum da de
8. Well, I really might seem retarded, but I really want to see you again
9. I can see it out my window, that stupid sunshine
10. Please love, let's make no impartial vow, let it all fall away, that's not crucial now
11. Who can say where the road goes, where the day flows, [title of song]
12. Come wet a widow's eye, cover the night with your love
13. Oh, well imagine, as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor
14. I had entered into a marriage, in the summer of my twenty-first year
15. Papa died smiling, wide as the ring of a bell
16. Any day now you'll call me up on the phone, say you love me more than you ever did before
17. I can't see [title of song], I can't see [title of song], though I patiently waited, bedside, for the death of today
18. Well I sat down next to a photograph, tried my best almost made her laugh
19. Soy'ooz neroosh'imi resp'ooblik svob'odnikh, splot'ila nav'eki vel'ikaia Rus
20. This is the story of your [title of song], and how it came to meet your leg
21. Yo I'm ropin' up my saddle, for the long, long ride
22. I got killed by [title of song] on my video game, and although to my self it doesn't mean too much
23. When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me
24. Fat Charlie the Archangel, sloped into the room
25. Too many times you're gonna go out with a-walkin', too many times you come out late

13 - I Write Sins, not Tragedies - Panic! At the Disco
23 - Let it Be - The Beatles

Is it just me or is Let It Be the most obvious song on this list? ...I mean, it probably really is just me, but in my world you're lucky you commented first, or it would be GONE.

[14] The Decemberists | The Rake's Song

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2009-06-16 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaaaaand it totally figures you'd call all the Decemberists songs on this list.

[identity profile] graffitimoon.livejournal.com 2009-06-16 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
If I hadn't, Lauren or Becca would have. :D

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2009-06-16 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Or Dar. Eventually. ...Before Lauren got to it, probably.

7- Under Pressure, David Bowie/Queen

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2009-06-17 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, yay~! I felt really stupid typing the opening lines to this song... it felt simultaneously really obvious and totally incomprehensible... but really, Under Pressure is way way way too awesome of a song to skip.

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-06-17 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
...wow, that's like everything that could go wrong, went wrong.

4. Shasta (Carrie's Song) by Vienna Teng

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2009-06-17 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Occasionally days at the office are like that. That's the weirdest one so far. Thursday June 4 was pretty ridiculous too, only that one actually was stressful.

Woot! Vienna Teng! High-five! ...That song always reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] evilhippo. Guess why. -_-;; It's dumb 'cause the song itself has nothing at all to do with her.

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-06-17 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
At least it wasn't stressful. Nothing's worse than getting stressed at the very beginning of your shift.

I was listening to that song earlier on my lunch break, so yeah, totally got that one in the bag. And now I'm going to think of her whenever I listen to it, blast her name.

15. Sodom South Georgia by Iron and Wine
16. Knock Down Drag Out by Weezer
18. Speak by Nickel Creek

And wow, what a weird day for you.

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2009-06-19 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew you'd get the Weezer one. :DD Weezer and Nickel Creek figure, didn't I get those songs from you?

I know, right? ...My computer's still broken. I'm still working in the wilderness at the very southern end of the building, where the whole row gets off at 2:30, and sit all by myself for 3 1/2 hours. Maybe my computer will be fixed/replaced today. Maybe.

11 - Only Time, by Enya

Hee hee hee, The Rake came up. That makes me happy.

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2009-07-01 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well thank Zolac someone got that one; it's one of the more obvious on the list.

Ha ha I know, I chortled with glee when it came up~.

Also OMG THANK YOU FOR THE KITE, IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!

[identity profile] regonym.livejournal.com 2009-07-01 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome~! I just read your entry on your Trip of Awesome to the Coast last night and was going to comment on your kite-success there, but here is good too. :DDD I'm glad you guys enjoyed it - I don't fly it nearly as often as it deserves to be flown. And I was rather amused to hear that Lauren took to it like a flying thing to a thing that flying things fly in - it makes such perfect sense! And wow, that simile got away from me a bit. Um.

Anywho, I am vastly looking forward to Portland-ness and Becca-ness later on this month~~~! Have you heard anything with your deep and twisty Decemberist-type connections about what sorta stuff they'll be playing at the concert? Or should I stop trying to spoil myself and be pleasantly surprised by whatever we get, d'you think?

♥♥♥ from Walla Walla!

I'm out of hearts, so, uh... kissing now!

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2009-07-02 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! Even if the simile is a little crazy! :DD

I KNOW I'M SO EXCITED!! We're still working out when Becca and Ducky are going to get here. Oh, and if you were wondering about why your check hadn't been deposited yet... I still do my banking in Hilo, lol, so I had to wait for my mom to come back from vacation so I could mail it to her.

Re: the playlist... nope, still have no idea, but I haven't checked the website recently... not sure if we'll know ahead of time, we didn't really know what they would play last time, other than we were vaguely sure they'd probably play Hazards of Love.

Word up from the Land of Port!
