I know nothing whatsoever about Watchmen except that it's a film, possibly based on a book (???). BUT you clearly are excited about it, so I really hope it's good and that you enjoy it!

Thanks! I did enjoy it quite a bit!

Watchmen is a graphic novel by Alan Moore (the mastermind behind V for Vendetta and other fabulous graphic novels) that is generally considered by critics to be one of the best, if not the best graphic novels ever written, and in fact one of the best novels of the past few decades. I highly recommend it as a read.

...Not sure whether to recommend the movie. Fans of the graphic novel seem to universally adore it, while nitpicking at a few more-or-less agreed upon flaws. If you haven't read the graphic novel, it seems to be a coin flip. I know people who loved it, and people who hated it/thought it was okay but didn't live up to the hype.

I'm glad you enjoyed it~!

Aaah, another film based on a comic. I really liked the film version of V for Vendetta, although I can't say I've read the graphic novel. :S Maybe I will check it out ...

Interesting! Fans of the original are usually the harshest critics, so they must've done something right. :) I probably won't have time to go and see it at the cinema (stupid university), but I'll remember to check it out as soon as it comes on the TV. :)

Yes indeedy. They are the latest fad. ; ) V for Vendetta is an excellent movie, although a lot of fans have been really harsh about it... unfairly harsh, I think. The graphic novel is also truly excellent... V is even more batshit crazy than he is in the movie. Both V for Vendetta and Watchmen are very intelligent reads; they're very political, and Alan Moore weaves all of these references to music and literature into the fabric of the novels, occasionally very subtly... when I catch a reference it's like finding an Easter egg, I feel very smart and proud of myself, but I'm sure half of it goes right over my head.

I think the reason fans liked the film so much is it is extremely faithful to the book. Like, besides having to cut out a bunch to fit it all into a movie, what's left is peeled straight out of the comic panels.
