So I have a whole pile of completely unrelated stuff to post about, and rather than spam you all with, like, eight different posts, I'm just going to cram things haphazardly into this one. It's going to be incredibly schizophrenic. ...Time to make a list!

-Fic rec! Found Where the Light Drowns by [livejournal.com profile] odditycollector. It's 1600 words of Batfic, Tim POV, but uh... even if you're not into Batfandom, maybe consider reading it anyway? All you need to know is Tim Drake is one of a series of Robins to Bruce Wayne's Batman, and his parents, like Bruce's and like most Robins, are dead. Anyway. This fic. It's beautiful and strange and takes the Batman mythos in an interesting direction. I kind of love it.

-Fic rec! Apple Seeds by [livejournal.com profile] pprfaith. 3700 words of X-Men: First Class fic, may be a little bit triggery (read the warnings) but... oh my god, so beautiful. And it made me think. And it made me see Charles in a completely different way. And it made me hurt a little. My heart is for serious broken now guys, and I completely love it. The insight in this piece... just, GUH. Read it already, what are you waiting for.

-...! Idk, does this count as a meme? The Geek Zodiac; I am Year of the Alien, what are you?

-Doctor Who! So there was that episode this evening. Um. I have such completely mixed feelings about it, I can't quite process. On the one hand, A LOT OF GREAT STUFF. On the other hand... too much stuff crammed into one episode? On the gripping hand... kind of poorly written, I thought; was surprised it was one of Moff's, although considering hand number one I guess I shouldn't have been. ...Basically nothing in the ep went at all like I would have predicted. And. The thing I want to say about Hitler which is kind of a spoiler. Fuck. EVERYTHING IS SPOILERS.

-H50 Season 2 trailer!

[Error: unknown template video]

My thoughts: 1) They don't really bother to leave McGarrett in jail very long, do they, and 2) I find I can't quite spare the energy to squee about Steve's facial hair like everyone else is doing because more importantly 3) LOOOOOOCCCCCKKKKEEEE OHMIGOD EEEEEEEEE~!! Terry O'Quinn. Your argument is invalid.

-Video rec! Do you like movies? Yes! Of course you do. Watch this video, IT'S AMAZING.

-The icon meme! Stolen this time from [livejournal.com profile] apple_pathways.

The rules:

1. Reply to this post with "LICK ME" (or any other explicit form of consent), and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

Here are the icons [livejournal.com profile] apple_pathways wanted me to talk about. (And btw darling you picked excellent ones, rife with opportunities to link to things that I love. Good job!)

My keywords for this icon are "communist party". The image is ganked from a Threadless design by the same name, which... well I'll just show it to you. This was one of the first Threadless shirts I ever saw, and still one of my all time favorites. I use this icon to denote partying, or when commenting on Goodbye Chains updates.

My keywords for this icon are "MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!" because... duh. You can read. The icon is from the hilarious webcomic series Batman and Sons ([livejournal.com profile] the_dark_cat on LJ/The-BlackCat on dA), specifically this page from "Mr. Bat-Mom" (Part One | Part Two). The series is funny and cute and fantastic in and of itself, but even better if you're a giant comics nerd; it's rife with references to the Gold and Silver and Bronze age, and opinionated jabs at certain writers and characters. I use this icon when freaking out about stuff, or making humorous posts relating to Batman, or commenting on Batman and Sons.

My keywords for this icon are "self-explanatory". It's Superman. Petting a dodo. What more do you need to know? ...Okay but honestly the backstory is fabulous. This is a screenshot of what is probably one of my favorite moments in Superman: The Animated Series, because... it's Superman. Petting a dodo. ...Long story short, there's this alien that preserves endangered species by flying around the galaxy and collecting the last remaining individuals in a zoo on his spaceship. Superman is the last Kryptonian, so he gets collected and put in a cage with red solar lamps, so his powers are useless. With help from another endangered individual, he manages to escape and make his way to a room with yellow solar lamps... a Terran forest where a single dodo resides. And then there's this scene, because Superman is an epic dorkface. The fact that this icon exists is just one of ten-gazillion reasons why [livejournal.com profile] timepunching is amazing. 20% of my icons are from [livejournal.com profile] timepunching. Because amazing. ...I use this icon for subjects relating to Superman, or just for the straight-up ridiculousness value (these concepts are frequently related).

My keywords for this icon are "New Watson likes jam." The icon is from the brilliant, hilarious, and mostly history-and-literature-related webcomic Hark! A Vagrant, specifically this strip about Sherlock Holmes bemoaning the unfortunate trend in the portrayal of Watson on-screen as a bumbling idiot. I use this icon for Sherlock Holmes-related topics, and... idk, whenever the silliness is appropriate.

My keywords for this icon are "Hawaii's favorite meat product". This is a photograph of an actual limited-edition Spam can celebrating Hawai‘i. And damn right they should celebrate us; Hawai‘i consumes more Spam per capita than any other state: 6.7 million cans a year. It's been part of our culture for decades, and is very beloved. An LJ friend once asked me, "Is it true what they say about Hawai‘i and Spam?" I was happily able to let this icon speak for itself. ...Yes, I know what you're thinking, but you're wrong; SPAM IS AMAZING. If you don't think so, you just don't know how to use it properly. Or you're a vegetarian. ...I use this icon for Hawai‘i-related posts, or posts containing spam... of any definition.

-That's it there is nothing else! I was going to post pictures and words pertaining to today's horseback riding adventure, but that's going to have to wait because I am LE TIRED.

I'M STILL YEAR OF THE UNDEAD AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAH.

I forgot that Doctor Who is back! Mmm, day off, you will be so much more sweet.

Man. I would do that meme if 1) I had more than fifteen icons and 2) if my main reason for choosing them all wasn't: 'idk I thought they were pretty.'

I'm slightly jealous. I'm still a wee bit disappointed in mine.

DOCTOR WHO IS BACK YES FINALLY, I was dying from the lack of television.

Well, jsyk, your icons are all fab. ♥

So, the Geek Zodiac. I may possibly have bounced in my seat, punched the air, grinned like a lunatic and screamed "PIRATE!" upon reading my sign. :P Whoever created that thing deserves at least one internet just for putting Monkey Island as the pirate picture, too - that made the experience about a hundred times more satisfying to me. :P

I'm going to watch the H50 promo and the other vid. tomorrow, because it's nearly 2am here and I'm tired. So I'll talk about them later. (I'm greatly intrigued by the title of the second vid!)

The New Watson Likes Jame comic strip is one of my favourites! (Book!Watson, though far from Sherlock's level of awesome, tries really hard to be clever and does make reasonable assumptions. God, I hate screen!Watson, though! More recent adaptations are better, and more book-canon-badass. Of which I heartily approve.)

Also, LICK ME. :P

Hahaha, yeah, that's perfect! I'm way jealous. My friend [livejournal.com profile] drownedcities got Year of the Undead, which is, like, a perfect match. Me, I'm... idk, there are plenty of cool aliens, but I was so close to being Year of the Superhero... so close!

"Filmography 2010", guh, I've watched it several times now. It's brilliant.

*nodnod* Watson was always meant to be a foil for Sherlock, but he's not supposed to be stupid. He's very very smart... for a normal man who is not Sherlock Holmes... or Mycroft, or Moriarty. But anyway, yes, the Jude Law and Martin Freeman portrayals are much better at illustrating this, thank Zolac.

*SLUUUUUUUUUUURP~*

I hope you enjoyed that.

Do these!

Yeah, I as incredibly lucky with that. XD Aww, shame about Year of the Superhero! It's always disappointing when you're so close to the year you want. :/ In the Chinese zodiac, I'm Year of the Snake, which is cool enough. I like snakes. But if I'd been born a few months earlier, I would've been Year of the Dragon. D: So I feel your pain. But aliens are awesome too! After all, Time Lords are aliens ...

EEEEE, Hawaii Five-0! Thank you for the trailer. Yeah, they really didn't lock him up for long. XD (Um. We're supposed to be squeeing over the face-fuzz? It's just face-fuzz. :/ I mean, it looks nice and all.) Should be an interesting dynamic, with the guy who trained Steve around! Even if I am suspicious that he won't be around for very long because I have a horrible pessimistic mind.

Oh. Oh, wow, that Filmography 2010 thing is amazing. *rewatches over and over*

I did indeed enjoy that! ;D *toddles off to do the meme*

So close! D: Heh, my dad's a Dragon, and my mom's a Snake. ...I have to admit, it's hard to be happy about any of the animals when you could have been a Dragon... but I'm a Tiger, which is actually perfect. They're my favorite animal. And yeah, the Time Lord thing is cool (even if I have to share them with Year of the Time Traveler). And Spock. Spock is boss. And, like, Prince Elfangor. And Chewbacca. ...But but. Batman! D:

I know a lot of people who are squeeing about the face fuzz. *shrug* I mean, sure, looks good on him, but TERRY O'QUINN. Yeeeeahhh chances are he's a one-shot. Or an occasional recurring character? *hopes*

RIGHT?! I am so deeply impressed with that person. I've watched it sooooo many times; I've just been putting it on in the background lately, because the music. I need to get, like, all of those songs.
