The trailer for The Tempest is out! Watch it!!
I guess I should probably read the play at some point, huh? I've got to drop by the library tomorrow anyway to return the library card I found at the bus stop this morning, so I guess I might as well use my library card for the first time ever and borrow a copy. Not like it will take me very long to read.
...Why isn't it December 10 yet?! I'm so excited for this movie. I'm going to spend the entire film distracted by the South Puna coastline, though. HAWAII ISLAND FILMING LOCATION FTW!! ...Dude, this means Helen Mirren and Ben Wishaw were bumming around in Hilo for a while. How surreal is that?

Date: 2010-10-09 04:49 am (UTC)The only thing that annoys me about the movie is that they made Prospero, Prospera, but other than that HOLY SHIT I WANT TO SEE THIS SO BAD. Done by the guy that did Titus and Across the Universe? HELLZ YEAH.
Also, yes. Read The Tempest. It was enjoyable, even if I had to put up with idiot high school kids asking if Ariel was the little mermaid. (No. He is not.)

Because I love Dame Helen Mirren, and Shakespeare needs more strong female characters anyway, and it's historically sensible, what with female practitioners of magic and alchemy being convicted of witchcraft, back to the 16th and 17th centuries. And the gender switch should put an interesting twist on the characterization... I'll have to see how that works out, once I've finished reading the play and seen the movie.
I have a shiny, freshly borrowed copy! It won't take me long. And pffff, that's silly. Ariel is naked Ben Wishaw. *nodnod*
