Well, I've already overslept and will be quite late for work, so... let's post some nerd spam.
First off, Thor trailer! It has... hmmm...The Black Swan Natalie Portman in it. I am ambivalent. It's going to be released almost exclusively in 3-D. I am annoyed. But it has Idris Elba as Heimdall omg yaaaaay! And Anthony Hopkins is Odin. And I'm amused that the main cast member with the Scandinavian last name is the one who is not a Norse god.
Anyway, meh, I'm kinda vaguely interested (but Idris Elba! :D), but I've never read any of the Thor comics so I'm not sure how much I care. More importantly... Batman!
It's hard to separate fact from rumor on the internet but... regarding Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, I believe it is fact that Tom Hardy has been cast (OMG YAY), and rumor that he will be playing Dr. Hugo Strange. Exciting~!

Date: 2010-12-15 02:40 pm (UTC)Have we seen Arkham at all in the movies? Or has it been referenced? It would be interesting to see Nolan's take on it...

Date: 2010-12-15 03:19 pm (UTC)Lololol I've totally seen icons of that! I was wondering what that was all about.... XD
Yeah, there was a bunch of Arkham in the first movie.
Sexy sexy Cillian MurphyDr. Crane was the director, and there was all this conflict between him and Rachel Dawes because he kept having Falconi's goons declared insane and transferred there, and he developed Scarecrow as a way to experiment on the inmates, and he was using Arkham as his base of operations for dumping fear toxin into the water mains, and when he drugged Rachel Dawes Batman had to rescue her from there with the help of Gordon and a whole lotta bats. Date: 2010-12-16 05:10 am (UTC)Strange is in the animated series in the episode "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne," where he finds out Batman's secret identity but no one believes him. :P He's also the main antagonist in the last arc of the original comic based on the animated series, where Batman loses all of his memories and thinks he's eight years old again. It's a super-sad story. His character seems to be a sign of inevitable mind-fuckery and memory issues, which could be really interesting in the Nolanverse!

Date: 2010-12-15 06:17 pm (UTC)my best friendWikipedia and Strange was in that one ep of B:TAS, I remember it now. He did also have a significant run on The Batman.More importantly, Strange's first comics appearance Post-Crisis was in 'Prey' a storyline early in Batman's career, in which Strange is enlisted to help a police force capture Batman. We know Nolan likes to borrow from those early foundational Batman stories, and this would work well picking up right where The Dark Knight leaves off, so I think the odds are leaning heavily in Strange's favor to be the villain of this movie.
The 'Prey' story arc is also when Strange starts dressing up like Batman, brainwashing police officers, framing Batman for kidnapping the Mayor's daughter, and figuring out Batman's identity, which I think would be great movie material. And how fun would all that be? :D
So anyway, I'm sold. Now we just have to figure out who the other villain is going to be. Nolan always has two.

Date: 2010-12-15 01:27 am (UTC)No, you must stay, and lick parts of the set for me! ...Seriously though, Nolan, MAKE BATMAN HAPPEN FASTER. And then make Superman happen. ...FASTER.

Date: 2010-12-15 01:59 am (UTC)Lick the set, of course! Why didn't I think of that? (Do you want me to die? They're not building Gotham from scratch here, who knows what's on those buildings.) I do wonder what kind of charges can be levied against someone for licking set pieces and/or cast members, though... I might have to try it. FOR SCIENCE.

Lol but of course! Anything for science! And Batman!

Date: 2010-12-15 04:08 am (UTC)I've read some of the Thor comics, and think it should be a good story. I'm also not sure what I think of them planning on predominantly releasing it in 3-D. I've never been particularly fond of 3-D movies, they hurt my eyes.

Date: 2010-12-19 08:11 am (UTC)Oh my... I may actually be okay with watching that in 3-D. That was. Oh. My. God. Do want.
I would so very love to see Dr. Strange in the next movie. According to the official Arkham City trailer, he'll be playing a role in that too.

Date: 2010-12-19 09:24 pm (UTC)I did some research about Strange, though, and using the powers of logic I am fairly well convinced this is actually going to happen. To copypasta my thoughts from the above thread with
