Two things.

The Adventures of Sexy Batman on "Hark! A Vagrant". Your liver might explode from laughter. Or you might curl into a quivering ball of terror. Or both.

The music video for "The City", Patrick Wolf's new song from his new album, soon to be released. Booming piano. Epic drums. A saxophone. A beach. The 1980s. Top of the morning!

I... hate it. Maybe I need another dozen listens or so, but that fucking song. Just. No. No fucking way. Like, Other Patrick- I'm glad you're happy and all, but like. Idk, I'm just not on board.

Also, I was gonna make a joke about HA HA HOW FUCKING PHIL COLLINS IS THIS SHIT? but then the sax kicked in and I snorted my mouthwash and now I'm irritated and I have green fizzy shit up my sinuses.

The one thing I'm cool with? Ignoring the wet chick basking in the sunset and Patrick's innumerable j-Crew model poses, I like that when there's lines about like, "you and me" or "our love" or whatever the shit, he's like, got some guy hanging all over him. I'm okay with that.

Nooooooooooooo, you're wrong! It's all full of booming piano and drums and brass and clapping and happy and wonderful! It's, like, Magic Position Part II! ...Go sit in your emo corner, emo kid! XP

I have to admit the saxophone does make me giggle. Also every time Patrick says "top of the morning". XDDDDD

Oh, screw you. XD I like happy music, YOU KNOW THIS. There are some very happy songs that I QUITE LIKE. Magic Position being among them, but not at the top of the list. I... just need a sec to think of some others. Does Na Na Na count? Planetary (GO!) is TOTALLY happy. And like. The Shins have happy songs I like. Skulls is technically happy- I mean, the dude is totally stoked about chopping people's heads off and tacking them to his wall. That has to count for something. ANYWAY.

No, it's like. The composition, mostly. I dunno. It does nothing for me and about halfway through just begins to grate on my nerves. And the sax kills it with fire. Too cutesy-poo.

At least in my emo corner, the lyrics are MEANINGFUL. Ha.

Planetary (GO!) totally qualifies. Na Na Na and Skulls are... a different kind of happy. ^_^;; They're, like, vicious.

Haha. WHY WON'T YOU LOVE ME MIKEYWAY, WHYYYYYY?! PRETENTIOUS METAPHOR! XD

I like cutesy-poo, so there! Patrick and I will just be off having an awesome happy dance party, and you're not invited! XP Ok Go is bringing cookies for everyone.

I like vicious-happy. And HEY. Spotlight? Totally fucking upbeat. Ish. Mostly.

HAAAAAY YOU JUST WROTE A FALL OUT BOY SONG! Send it to Patrick, he probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference and would sing it out of habit.

Ugh, invite Passion Pit while you're at it. I'll be over here with Conor Oberst, painting each others' nails and strumming mournfully on our acoustic guitars.

FIRST DAY OF MY LIFE! Sha-bam.

I like vicious-happy too! Like, it's probably my favorite thing in the world. But. The serial killers don't really belong in the Happy Dance Party.

And yes, Spotlight is totally happy and upbeat. Which is why I'm having a Happy Patrick party. (Plus MIKA and Outkast's "Hey Ya".)

Haha I was thinking about Passion Pit. They're bringing the home-made disco ball.

First Day Of My Life is happy, yes, but it's not bouncy. You can't dance like a loony to it. It's more, like, sweet.

HAPPY PATRICK DAY! I'm so on board with this. Even if I'm gonna cogitate in my worry over P. Stump's state of being.

We're From Barcelona. You should invite them, too, even if you don't know who they are. They're terminally happy and I loathe them with the fire of one thousand Eminem music videos.

So where are we getting this idea that Patrick is unhappy? D:

My creepy-stalker hyper vigilance? Honestly, I think he's just like, nervous about being solo in the spotlight, so it's making him all tense and superserious and stuff. Also, he was supposed to release Soul Punk last year, but all kinds of shit went down that he's only vaguely alluded to and so he ended up completely changing the feel of it from bouncy to more serious overtones.

...I've never worried about a celebrity's well being before. I'm a bit alarmed at myself.

But then I go back and reread the Chicagoist interview and he seems really bouncy and excited. MIXED MESSAGES, MR STUMP. MIXED MESSAGES.

I poked through the YouTube comments on Green Light and apparently he was really unhappy about the original video that he posted... a lot of fans were like, where did it go? I liked that version! Can someone repost? And a bunch of people were going to, but then he said on his Twitter that he was embarrassed by it, and they were all like, nah, we don't want to make him uncomfortable so we won't.

Poor Patrick. I think the squeakiness embarrassed him. And he does seem really meh at the end of the recording. But it's lovely that his fans are being sweet and respectful and not a bunch of douchecocks. I would like to give the Stump fandom a hug.

I think he must just be very nervous. Wouldn't you be?

Oh, that makes me so happy. Fans of Patrick Stump seem to be, as a trend, generally pretty chill. Pete Wentz got all the crazies, I think. So... Good for him. I kinda wanted the original version, too, but oh well. The update is cool.

Is it weird that I sympathize like, COMPLETELY? I draw something and I know it's not as good as it could be but I'm SO EXCITED to post it and get a reaction that I do anyway and twelve hours later I'm having cold sweats and can't sit still. I mean, like, I've left work and gone to the coffee shop to take shit down and update and tinker before. So. I kinda get it.

Good god, yes. I just. I WORRY, OKAY? I don't want him to freak out and burn out or just be completely fucking miserable or whatever for the sake of putting out music. It's painfully obvious why Pete was frontman in FOB, dude. Like. Really. It irritated me for years, but now I'm kinda rethinking that.
