AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
So.
• Before Moffat started on his run of Doctor Who, was anyone expecting his Who to be gayer than RTD's? I wasn't. I AM PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.
• SO YES RIVER SONG well holy shit this explains a lot of things about her doesn't it?
• THE ONLY WATER IN THE FOREST IS THE RIIIIIIVEEEEERRRRRR~!!
• I'm told that there were many many Amy/River slashers. HAHAHA AWKWARD~! XDDDD
• HOW LONG HAS MOFFAT BEEN PLANNING THIS?
• So it looks like River probably will be killing the Doctor after all, yeah? I thought perhaps the guy she killed was not going to be the Doctor because IT'S JUST SO OBVIOUS I thought it had to be a red herring, but... well, yeah, it's really looking like River now. ...HEY
evilhippo WELL DONE, you got that part sort of correct a little bit! XDDDDD
• ROOOOOOOORRRRRYYYYYYYYY omg if I thought I could get away with it without being brutally murdered by your wife THE NAUGHTY NAUGHTY THINGS I WOULD DO TO YOU. UNF.
In other news I was watching Who with Mom last night (we've started season five! :D) and it occurred to me that the Doctor Who theme and the X-Files theme could be mixed together quite nicely. Just think about it: BA-DA-BA-BUMP BA-DA-BA-BUMP BA-DA-BA-BUMP BA-DA-BA-BUMP, do-do-do-do-do-dooooo~!

Date: 2011-06-04 11:32 pm (UTC)You know, when the TARDIS first said that I couldn't help but think of River, and I was actually hoping it wasn't a play on her name... but this was done well, I like this!

Date: 2011-06-05 07:59 am (UTC)I'm liking how this is all hanging together. I still definitely want the doctors daughter to come back, but I'm definitely liking this whole time mess story for River.
But now I have to wait till autumn. :( At least the new season of Torchwood starts in about a month. Should be interesting to see what happens with that.
I could certainly get behind that spinoff idea.

Date: 2011-06-05 08:13 pm (UTC)I feel sorry for the Amy/River 'shippers. There were also Rory/River fans. (I was not one of them, but as part of a fairly long and fairly stupid fic-plot I was going to write it, and now ... I really can't. XD Oh well!)
I still think River could've been referring to her father when she said she was going to to kill the best man she'd ever known. (Which would mean she's going to kill Rory, which might explain why she was a bit WTF when he showed up to ask her to come to Demons Run ...) Also, wasn't that why she ended up in the Stormcage? If yes, why would they send a little girl to a 51st Century (?) prison for killing a guy on Earth in the 60's? Or maybe I'm making that thing about Stormcage up. I can't even keep track any more ...
Of course, none of that means that she's not going to kill the Doctor as well ...
Rory is my favourite. I keep telling people this, and usually I get blank looks and the question, "Why?" It's nice to know that people on the internet agree that he's EPIC and AWESOME and UNF. *grabby hands*

Date: 2011-06-05 09:26 pm (UTC)Rosefen, anyone?) who spends all her time griping and ruining everyone else's fun because her favorite characters aren't on the show anymore.)I have loved that geeky nurse since The Eleventh Hour, and I am OH SO GLAD he's living up to all my expectations! Also: for all the complaining I do about Stephen Moffat and his writing style, I am going to love him forever for gratuitously putting the boy back in that Centurion get-up whatever chance he gets. (That is the kind of fanservice I can get behind!)
I am nervous/excited to see how the Ponds progress from this. *bites nails*

Date: 2011-06-05 10:14 pm (UTC)oh God them *runs away*) but it's going to be hard to let Amy and Rory go.)I liked Rory in The Eleventh Hour, and he's just grown into this character that I do not want to lose. HAHA, the Centurion get-up. Yes. I'm afraid I'm a little like Amy in that the Romans are my favourites, so ... all gratuitous Rory-as-a-Centurion scenes make me very happy. :P
Augh, I know! The next episode is way too far away ...
Also, I love your icon.

Date: 2011-06-05 10:43 pm (UTC)Also: having a boy in the TARDIS as well makes it all a bit less, I dunno: patronizing! "Ooh, let me show you the world, attractive young thing, and tell you how smart you are when you move the plot forward at convenient times! Be sure to keep up!" (Incidentally, this is also what I liked about Donna: it felt more like she and the Doctor were equals, not necessarily because they were, but because Donna was not 'avvin it anyway other way! :P) Anyway, having a dude around who's just as inept in comparison to the doctor makes it less gender-charged when the Doctor plays Captain Smartypants.
*sigh* IS IT FALL YET???
thank you!

Date: 2011-06-05 09:57 pm (UTC)That's a good point, could be Rory... OH GOD I HOPE IT'S NOT RORY, FOR SERIOUS MOFFAT HOW MANY TIMES DO WE NEED TO KILL THIS MAN? You're right about Stormcage, I believe our mystery murder is supposed to be why she's there. It's really hard to project what's happened/happening/is going to happen, because we lack a lot of information about the timeline. We don't get to see the Astronaut's face in the lake, she could be older than a little girl there. By that token, though, the Astronaut could be someone else entirely. Although I do think River acts remarkably suspiciously during that whole event... from what I can remember. I'll have to watch it again.
RORY IS BADASS AND FANTASTIC, TRUFAX.
I'm sorry I voted against Arthur Darvill. ;_;no subject
Date: 2011-06-05 10:20 pm (UTC)I hope it's not Rory, I don't want him to die. Again. D: (I counted how many times he's died/nearly died/sort-of-died. SIX TIMES. In a total of five episodes. Not consecutively, but still. And he was treated to three deaths in three consecutive episodes of this series. Not that I'm obsessed or anything. *shifty eyes*)
Oh, good. I'm really glad that's not a piece of fanon that I've accidentally headcanon-ed. XD That's always a danger. That's true: she could be significantly older the second time we see the suit. River does act kind of strangely - but would she really shoot at herself (and risk creating a paradox in which she kills her past self)? ... AUGH, my brain hurts now. Definitely will have to re-watch this series from the start, so I can try to work it out.
Also: I am still somewhat convinced that the Silence are still up to something, somewhere ... That might just be paranoia, though.
It's OK, honestly! Don't beat yourself up about it. :) Just so long as you acknowledge how AWESOME Rory is, it's all good.

Date: 2011-06-05 10:57 pm (UTC)But it's totally possible it's someone else. For one thing, as
The Silence had better still be up to something. They spent all of season five dropping hints about them and they are defeated in the second episode? Yeah I don't think so. Also, didn't it get said at some point in those opening episodes that they're all over the universe, not just Earth? I am betting we will see them again this season, and if we don't I will be very disappointed in the writing.

Date: 2011-06-05 10:36 pm (UTC)I think there's still more to come, and am not entirely convinced that the girl who regenerates = River. (However, I don't think it's incompatible with what we've seen so far. If it turns out to be the case that River/Melody/the Pondling turns out to be the little girl the spacesuit, I wouldn't be too surprised.)
However, I'm almost completely convinced that the astronaut who kills the Doctor is Someone Else. (If it is River: why does she come out of the lake? Heck, even if it isn't River: why does the astronaut come out of the lake??? AND: if it's River, there's some 'splaining to be done about why she can cross her own timeline in that scene and nowhere else.)

Date: 2011-06-05 10:48 pm (UTC)Red herrings are always possible, so I am prepared at all times to be surprised, but I can't imagine them pulling some alternate explanation on us in any way that would be at all graceful.
SERIOUSLY WHY THE LAKE. I HOPE THERE IS A GOOD EXPLANATION FOR THIS. ...That's a good point about the timeline-crossing. Although it wouldn't be the first time Who has cheerfully contradicted itself for the sake of convenience.

Date: 2011-06-06 11:09 am (UTC)First of all, let me get this off my chest -- STEVEN MOFFAT I HEART YOU LIKE A VERY SHINY THING. <333333333333333333333333
NOW.
1. What is up with the Doctor's telepathy skills, I'd like to ask??? He picks up on dying girl's 'we ran together' thing, he keeps saying Time Lords are telepathic, BUT he didn't pick up on eyepatch woman's evil plan?? Show, you are being highly inconsistent. :/ 'I speak 'baby'' indeed.
2. If River was the girl in the spacesuit, stands to reason she will have already lived through that, yes? Therefore she would know all about the Doctor's death, and her being the little girl, yes? I mean, being timey-wimey's all well and good, but she wouldn't have forgotten that--would she?? I still maintain it has something to do with Canton. Way to introduce a random massively awesome character in a major plot development two-parter and throw him aside right after, if not.
3. WHY THE BLOODY HELL DOES NO ONE SHOOT EYEPATCH WOMAN??? AND WHO THE BLEEDING FUCK IS SHE REALLY??? Because dying girl could well have shot her and made away with the baby, real or no.
4. Even if River is part- or whole-timelord, how can she read and write High Gallifreyan? Is she also telepathic? Does the TARDIS download the knowledge into her head??
5. Why introduce the headless monks and then do nothing with them? I mean, that knowledge, remove someone's head and give them Dark Side powers -- surely they should be more than random villains?
6. Is it significant that the Doctor keeps dodging the question about his kids? Because he had some, right? Yes? We know that, no? And they were trapped in the time war vortex along with the rest? Or died? This may be me making shit up, but I distinctly remember something along those lines around the time of the Master.
IDEK. THIS EPISODE HAS FILLED ME WITH RANDOM QUESTIONS. Not to mention that now I shall have to rewatch all River episodes to see the connections. And Season 5 again. And the last 7 episodes again. MOFF, I LOVE YOU, BUT YOU MAKE MY HEAD HURT.
ALSO, RORY IS THE MOST AWESOMESAUCE OF THE LOT OF THEM. <333 AND I LOVED HIM WITH THE BABY, SO DAMN MUCH.

Date: 2011-06-06 04:22 pm (UTC)1. What I got from that scene was not that he was using telepathy, but that wanted to make her feel better, so he pretended to remember her... and he was able to guess pretty comfortably that they ran together... because that's what everyone does when they meet the Doctor. ...Time Lords are mildly telepathic, I think to read her thoughts he would need to do one of those Vulcan mind-meld things like Ten did with Renette, and I think she would need to let him. Time Lords can also do a bit of mind control; the Master has pretty blatantly in the past, and... the Doctor does it too. If he looks into your eyes and says, "Trust me," you really don't have much of a choice.
2. IF Lakestronaut is the little girl/River, she would remember that... and she maybe does. I think she acts pretty suspiciously at the lake. (For one thing, she waits until Lakestronaut has some significant distance from them before she starts firing at it, and then she empties her gun at it and misses. River. River of the demonstratedly badass gun skills. River. Misses. And isn't she by far the calmest of the group afterwards?)
4. I think probably the Doctor taught her when she was younger.
6. Yeah no, this isn't the first time he's dodged questions about children and family. Nor the last. He probably will never answer those questions, because that's how he is... dodgy about personal details. But a dodged question has to mean yes, we know that, especially if he dodges the question multiple times.
THIS EPISODE FILLS EVERYONE WITH MANY QUESTIONS. God, I know, I really need to go back and watch the Library episodes, and the beginning of this season, and all of last season, and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH. ...Luckily, I'm starting in on last season with my mom, so I'll be able to pay attention as I rewatch all this stuff.
RORY IS THE VERY BEST, TRUFAX.

Date: 2011-06-07 03:07 am (UTC)Though really, I think most of what I know about Time Lord telepathy just comes from Shada; if you haven't listened to it/watched the reconstruction, you should (I mean, it's written by Douglas Adams, so that's like, 50 more points in its favor.) ^_^
