So far 2010 has been really lame. This week has not helped. This week is, apparently, "Please Kick Me Again, Universe" week.

First, good things... watching Classic Who and depressing sci-fi movies with Lauren on my sick days was fun. Watching David Tennant play Hamlet on public television was amazing. This week's episode of Supernatural made me really happy (omg Crowley/Mark Sheppard I love you forever); today's episode of Doctor Who did as well (omg Eleven/Matt Smith I love you forever with a side of Moffat be my bff).

Bad things... got sick, lost my job, bla bla, I mentioned that already. I'm still sick, btw. Anytime my throat would like to stop hurting would be fine with me, thanks. And it would be nice if I could breathe well enough to get some exercise.

Yesterday... yesterday my computer, which has been fiddly all week, decided to go completely insane. When I attempted to restart and was unable for quite some time to get the damn thing to start up again at all, I took it in to the Apple store over in Bridgeport. I had to drop it off rather than hang out while a tech worked on it, as everyone else in the country was very excitedly trying to buy the new iPad. They called me back within a couple of hours to let me know that my hard drive had failed. So I shelled out $154 to have it replaced.

So whatever, it's all good, right? That's what my external hard drive is for. And the Time Machine software I've been using to back up my entire computer so I can, in theory, wave a magic wand and have everything returned to my computer exactly how it was before.

...Yeah no my fucking external picked the same week to stop working. It was working on Tuesday! As of yesterday, however, the fucking thing won't even appear on my or anyone else's computer. Which I confirmed too late to do anything about it until Monday, since LaCie tech support is only available business hours on business days.

So FML. I had better be able to get my data back and the cost had better be covered by my god-damn warranty or I will punch every last... everything in the face. I'm sick and fucking tired of crying this week. My eyes hurt and I've got enough snot coming out of me without that, thanks.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~!! DD:

On the plus side, I dreamed about the TARDIS for the entire night.

Tonight I'm having FISH CUSTARD for dinner! :DDDDD

...Vanilla pudding counts, right?

EDIT: Inhaling vanilla pudding is less fun than it sounds, trust me. D:

EDIT EDIT: Also, when you microwave fish fingers the recommended amount, that amount is TOO LONG, and they become somewhat carbonized. Less like fish fingers and more like... fish croutons. Fish bricks. -_-;;

EDIT EDIT EDIT: It was delicious. Thanks, Doctor Who! :DD

Good thing I decided to stalk other people's threads, THANK YOU BECCA omg I forgot about this entirely! ...Must've been having too much fun in Nawlins.

Friday I took a couple of buses over to Lauren's house. I had a long conversation with a very nice, cute, and slightly ADD guy named Doug... we talked about Stephen King, books, movies, college, where we've lived, and what we want to do with our lives. Lauren picked me up from the Park and Ride and we ate tacos in her kitchen while her parents chilled in the family room, drinking wine and listening to Metric's "Live It Out" on high volume. We spent some quality time working on Aphelion before Lauren took me home, having to go to bed earlyish so she could go trapping for her kestrel. My friend Becca texted me to announce joyously that she had proposed to her girlfriend, and she had said yes, which was wondrous news. It's a good thing me and Dar were there to help her pick out the ring; obviously it was a winner. :DD

Saturday I slept in real late, then spent some time writing. Around midday Dar and I went to the community center and *GASP!* worked out at the gym. We did 20 mins on the ellipticals, did a sampling of most of the weight equipment, and finished up with a short jog on the treadmills- my first workout in a gym EVER in my life. Which is even stranger than it sounds, as I've been a regular athlete since I was five. I guess I've always been a bit disdainful of gyms, preferring to get my workout doing sports, preferably outside. But it was hella fun. And we've bought a 20-visit pass, so we'll be going regular, hopefully. Afterwards we loosened up doing a few laps in the pool. I climbed the rope again (which is a lot harder after a hard workout, ohmigod), we went down the waterslide, and then finally boiled our muscles in the hot tub as a preventative measure. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow anyway.

Feeling sufficiently like we'd been pummeled by meat tenderizers and injected with happy drugs, we went to pick up Lauren, whose kestrel-catching venture was a bust, alas. Next week, perhaps- fingers crossed! We showered and ate salmon-salad sandwiches and bean salad, and Lauren and I marathoned the very first episodes of Doctor Who (OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH BECCA). We also watched a few episodes of Snuff Box, which is FUCKING BIZARRE and also amazing and awesome.

Today is also the birthday of Jesse Hajicek, one of my favorite writers. As a gift to him I have written a few shorts and drabbles about Star and Zander, the main characters of his fabulous webcomic, Metanoia (for non-Riversiders, you may remember Star from my pr0n earlier this month). Remember those drabbles I asked for, for my Sekrit Projekt? Yeah, this is them. I only had time and inspiration for four, oh well. If you're interested, here they are (cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] riverside_hq), and thank you so much for the prompts!

So, uh, let's talk about stuff that's not depressing.

SPOILERS!!
1. Battlestar Galactica. Okay, so not really a spoiler, because it's Season 3, and even if you're behind like me, it's not really a plot point. So I'm not even going to bother hiding it behind a cut. ...Do you know how happy it makes me that my favorite character, Gaius Baltar, is from Aerilon? SO FREAKING HAPPY OMG!! My thought process went like this: "Baltar is from Aerilon?! OMG!! I'M FROM AERILON!!! ...I mean, I'm an Aries... same thing... kinda... not really... whatthehell YAAAAAAAAYY!!! :DDD" The lesson here is, I'm A Dork.

2. Doctor Who. Veeeerrrryyy intriguing leaked photos indicating possible plot/casting spoilers make me veeeeeerrryyy intrigued~. :DDD I got this secret from Becca, and she got it from... uh... the Internet, I dunno. If you want to know, tell me, and I'll email or LJ Message you. Or, you know, ask Becca.

3. Uh... my meme. ^_^;; You know, that song meme thing I posted, over here? If you still wanna play, then don't look under this cut. If you wanna see the answers, and slap yourself, because you're so stupid why didn't you get that...

Look under here. )
